Five Finger Discount

5.8+ R, Trad, 120 ft (36 m),  Avg: 2 from 3 votes
FA: Darrell Hensel, June 2014
California > Sierra Eastside > Bishop Area > Pine Creek Canyon > Scheelite Crags… > PSOM Slab

Fine slab route that deteriorates a bit toward the finish. Better have your head in the game for a lead: it's a long way between bolts, the bottom is seriously slick, and the mid/upper sections have the usual PSOM chips (even if the climbing is relatively low angle and easy).

Immediately left of PBR Streetgang is a slick low angle slab underneath a right facing arch. Climb up the thin, slick seam, cross the lip, and continue up the easiest path along the bolted line.

4 bolts; single 70m rope rap will leave you a few feet shy of the ground (downclimb PBR)

[Hide Comment] cool, thanks - hopefully i can now officially post the name without upsetting the powers that be ;-) Aug 26, 2015
[Hide Comment] Yeah. Might as well use the correct name since the route is posted. I decided to add the others in the area as well. Aug 26, 2015

[Hide Comment] My girlfriend led this last week (she's the slab climber, not me!) and it was pretty nice up till the bolts kind of ended in the middle of nowhere. Was it intended to just be a big runout from the last bolt up to the ledge? She ended up going right and joining the PBR P1 line which worked out fine. Mar 28, 2016

[Hide Comment] not sure if it was intentional, but it's pretty common for slab climbs to be R on easier terrain (for the grade). Mar 28, 2016
