Sheep Dip

5.9, Trad, 90 ft (27 m),  Avg: 1.8 from 4 votes
FA: James Garrett and Kelly Macleod, 2002
Utah > W Desert > Ibex > Sheep Rock Area

Description

A bouldery route in the middle of the wall, this climb starts out strong with a crank over a roof. Easier terrain leads to another couple cruxy moves with some ledgey terrain mixed in.

Location

About halfway between Shetland Dreams on the right and Y2K Crackdown on the left. Look for the two bolts leading up over the bulgy roof and the leaning lieback crack.

Protection

About 4 bolts on the route. Supplement with cams and nuts. Chain anchor at the top.

[Hide Comment] Guidebook suggests you have both options - rappel or walk off. Take the rap option. Anchors are on ledge a steep 20+ feet below topping out, so to walk off you would probably have to set up trad anchor on top. Apr 15, 2024
