A bit of background on the route and name: Just before Mike Fischesser, Brad Wilson, and I bolted this, Mike was poking around in a some mountain laurel just above the apron looking for some old tat or pins only to find out that his face was inches from a pissed off timber rattler. Instead of being freaked out from nearly logging a rattlesnake bite to the face, Mike started raving about how 30 years earlier he and Terry Jennings were at about the same spot (looking for the "Old Lost Peter Young Route") when Terry found himself face to face with a rattler after climbing up to the ledge. From here, naming the route got pretty simple.

Also, the moderate first pitch slabbing and second pitch grooving are, like many of the routes in this area, great introductions to Laurel. Hopefully the new trail and new information will help give these routes a little more traffic. Jan 8, 2015
