Description

This is another gem in this tucked away little spot. Initially I wasn't really drawn in by the line, but after working out the moves I found it as fun and engaging and slightly harder than Pucker Up. The only thing keeping me from giving 4 stars is the crumbly band of rock above the bottom four bolts.

This route will test your climbing technique, power, and endurance. It even has some very non-Mt. Lemmon trickery thrown in. See if you can find it!

Location

This is currently the leftmost route on the Gallery wall. It shares the first 4 bolts with Pucker Up before breaking left. It rejoins for the last bolt and shares anchors with Pucker Up.

Protection

12 bolts + chains

[Hide Comment] Just for clarification: does Breaking Away share the first four original bolts of Pucker Up, or the first four bolts that are currently installed on Pucker Up, and do Breaking Away and Riddle of Steel share any bolts? Oct 16, 2016

[Hide Comment] Austin, all of the routes share the bottom 4 bolts. Riddle climbs most of Breaking Away before diverting to it's own ending out the steepest part of the wall- hard left at the top.

I will aim to get a photo topo of the wall up in the next month or so as there is not one in STL III. Oct 16, 2016
