This is a very long and enjoyable route. Too long to entirely relate here, a good English language reference: "Mid-Grade Trad Rock, Western Dolomites I; Emilianno Zorzi." The reference has a rudimentary topo, which is much more helpful than a tortuous description. The descent is along the "Normal" Roure on the Grohmannspitze.

Reached from the Rifugio-Albergo C. Valentini.

Some fixed protection, along with a few natural runners. Bring a normal alpine rack, possibly a few pitons and hammer.

This is a major route on an Alpine summit, and coupled with the descent could result in an unplanned bivvy. Take plenty of water and some food, as this can be an arduous day of climbing when the descent is considered. Sep 27, 2014
