Fool's Gold

5.12a, Sport, 105 ft (32 m),  Avg: 3.9 from 33 votes
FA: unknown
Colorado > Telluride/Norwo… > Falls Walls > Streaked Wall

Description

This is a really great pitch that follows the tallest gold streak on the left side of the wall. The route starts with an easy slab, a few cruxes through the beginning of the headwall, then hang on for the steep pocketfest to the anchors. The pump sticks with you 'til the end.

Location

This climbs the long, gold streak left of Eldorado.

Protection

Bolts to lowering anchors. This route is a full 100'. Use caution when lowering with a 60m rope.

Even after a healthy monsoon event, this route will stay mostly dry except for the very bottom.

Eldorado goes up the prominent orange streak. Felt like 90% limestone climbing.

[Hide Comment] This is a fantastic pitch - as good as any 12a anywhere. There’s a distinct crux low on the headwall then fun, thought-provoking climbing to the anchors. Aug 20, 2020
