The crux is the summit pinnacle. Pretty good rock for an Oregon peak.

Start where the Thielsen trail crosses the PCT, on the west ridge. Mostly 2nd class until you reach the summit pinnacle. then a short bit of 3rd and 4th class to reach the summit.

We just went straight up from the ridge, there's a nice ledge to peer over the massive drop on the East side. If you stay to the right (15 ft from the edge) of the rock formation heading up to the top it felt better than trending left with fun exposure but some committing moves with a tragic consequence. The right side had good rock quality, with a 5.7 mantle move then easy blocks to the top. To get down continue forward (SE) and find the rappel webbing and down climb the easy 4th class. and traverse skiers right back to the main ridge. Bring skis for the bowl if there's snow! May 11, 2018
