Lou Cerutti adds: On our way in yesterday we were stopped by a quarry employee who initially tried to deter us from entering adding that we were on private property and that they never catch the climbers they see up there. After a friendly chat he decided to let us go. I suggested I'd be happy to speak with the owner and left him my phone number. I never heard back but we may want to add some info about keeping a low profile there.
Description
Super classic off the deck traverse. It is possible to do a wildly cool reverse iron cross at the extremely exposed crux.
Location
Follow Quarry Trail to Main Wall of Cougar Crag West. The Iron Cross Traverse starts pitch 1 as for the Original Route. Pitch 2, from bolted anchors atop the Original Route traverse foot rail unprotected out right 25' to the Grassy Gully. From here continue out right on face features underneath head wall roof. At the end of this section is the 15' long crux. Climb ends at oak tree on top of the Sesame Street Buttress.
