Description

An awesome start variation to "The Quiet Buddhist", utilizing the full lip as a traverse. Most get this variation of the ascent before ticking the big throw start of TQB.
Sit start at the base of the cave on an overly chalked jug shelf, just left of the start for "Pond Cave Traverse". Pull up to good but technical crimps, traversing left until dropping into the arete, joining the rest of TQB. Great climbing!

Location

Deepest point in the cave, on obvious chalked block just left of the start for "Pond Cave Traverse"

Protection

Multiple Pads, spotters

What’s the difference between this and the quiet Buddhist? Something doesn’t add up. Mar 18, 2018

Dan, I believe the Quiet Buddhist starts on the big shelf below the arete, The first move is a big right hand throw to the lip. The Buddhist starts to the right and you work your way over on crimps before dropping down on to the arete. They both share the same finish Apr 2, 2018

Sorry to potentially cause more confusion - Max is correct in the way that the route goes, but both the Buddhist and The Quiet Buddhist start on the heavily chalked jug to the left of the starting jug for Pond Cave Traverse. The Buddhist goes directly up and left using the good crimps and slopers on the top of the face to then continue on and climb up the arete, and The Quiet Buddhist immediately traverses left and keeps low on huge jugs and then makes the big right hand throw up to the lip.
