Lorazepam

5.8 PG13, Sport, 110 ft (33 m),  Avg: 3 from 25 votes
FA: Aaron Collins and Russell Gordan
Arizona > Central Arizona > *Phoenix Areas > Greevers' Needle

Description

The south facing wall with the split face on Greevers' is done!
LORAZEPAM starts at the left side of the little cave on less than vertical ground. The first bolt also dubs as an anchor to drop into the shoot to the east and is easily reached before you start climbing as you are 15' off the main ledge. Most bolts are painted reddish brown. Tread lightly! Test everything before you commit to it. It was a super fun route to put up with surprisingly little cleaning need IMHO. You may disagree;)
***After being told it was too scary by a really good friend  and competent climber, I decided to double the bolts. No gear needed and no more PG-13.
New name seems obligatory in that is not a nightmare to climb. I'm thinking AKA Comfortably Numb;)***

Location

Follow the trail that circles the Needle.

Protection

13 Bolts  A few shoulder length slings would be great!

Russell rapping off Greevers' after a day of dodging rain drops and falling rocks. I think the old tower is happy it is finally getting the attention. It deserves.

[Hide Comment] You'll need at least 5mg of it, and wash it down with a strong drink for good measure...... Jan 10, 2015

[Hide Comment] Great route, all pretty cruiser, one area in a crack could take a large nut to protect spaced out bolts, but if you're comfortable with a little exposure, you're good! And if you were to fall, it's all so vertical it would be a clean one. Jump on it! Thanks for bolting this awesome route, we need more people to climb on it, to clean it up a bit, but most all is solid. Get after it! :) Dec 13, 2020

[Hide Comment] Lorazepam might be the best route name ever conceived!
There's still significant exposure near the top of this route where the crack is. Starting from the nice ledge just below the crack, there's one bolt, then its a long runout through that overhung section (crux). The ledge below is a perfect decking opportunity since that one intervening bolt is not high enough to protect the runout. One more bolt near the beginning of the overhang would make this great route much safer and true to grade throughout. Mar 16, 2025
