Access Issue: Mt. St. Helena Crags - Fire Damage from Fall 2017 Details

This climb features some steep face climbing at the start before entering and surmounting a strenuous roof. Gain a good stance above the bulge, and with the crux behind you, enjoy a moderate cruise to the anchors. It's possible to top out on the formation and enjoy the spacious summit plateau from here.

Shares the first bolt of the Close Encounters route, climbing left after clipping and gain a stance on a small ledge at the start of the hard climbing.

Is crack on the left side after second bolt in the problem? May 6, 2015

Roman, using the crack makes the climb less sustained and slightly easier, but it goes either way. Best way is to go straight through the bolts as much as possible. Jul 11, 2015

i actually thought that going over the bulge wasn't technically harder than any of the other moves, it's just sustained getting there ;-) Dec 3, 2016
