Location

Up at the Crows nest to the right of Crows nest gully is the chimney that forms the summer rock climb Scuttlebut.

Description

Enter the chimney and follow good ice for 50ft where it ends in a cave of sorts and capped by chock stones that offer no exit. Look behind you and you'll see a small chock stone you can securely dry tool to. Good rock gear protects the exit into the vegatation. Belay/rappel from tree

Protection

ice screws and rock gear to 1"

I found it to be more squirmy than expected, even with my relatively small frame. Definitely worth your time to hoof it up to the crow's nest for this one. Easy, yet exciting!

Maybe I have a good imagination or I was running out of oxygen back in the depths of the chimney, but I felt like I had been transported to Banff or the Ruth Gorge. Your experience may vary Oct 24, 2015

Jay Lena and I did this on 1/18/14. Don't know if it had been done before. This climb was really fun and it's conclusion dubious til the end. Great adventure for the grade! Jan 19, 2014
