California > Sierra Eastside > Lone Pine Area > Alabama Hills > Alabama Hills N… > Paul's Paradise > Poodle Wall

Description

Fun, easy romp on pretty good rock.
Starting from the right and bypassing the first bolt (as shown in the Bishop Area Rock Climb book) is 5.8. Direct start looked ~10a.
After passing the first bolt, climbing eases. A bit of a run on big holds to the 3/4 bolt.

Location

2nd route from the left on the taller section of the wall.

Protection

7 bolts
anchor: two drilled pins, one with a biner, one with quicklink and chain

[Hide Comment] This route is worthy of an anchor upgrade for anyone up to it. Dec 7, 2013

[Hide Comment] Good warmup for the wall. Drilled angles are still there and looking solid. YMMV. Nov 14, 2016

[Hide Comment] Anchor still looks solid, but I wasn't willing to set up a TR on it. Could definitely use some real bolts. Jan 16, 2018
[Hide Comment] The true start seemed 5.9 to me and the best climbing on the route. Starting to the right is no easier and kinda scary, looking at a bad fall.

A few shoulder length slings for horns lessens the run out nature but would the rock hold? Jun 20, 2023
