SDS on the north arete, on good holds. Make steep moves on the overhang, finishing on the arete.

Bottom section is on stellar chocolate patina. Wish the top was the same, it would definitely warrant another star. Landing is sweet with 2 pads Nov 14, 2013

I have mixed feelings about the grade on this one. I hate down grading, so I call it 7 minus. I really thought it was pretty easy for the grade in J-Tree. Certainly is a lot easier than Nicole Overhang which comes in a grade easier.

Regardless, it really is a great climb worth every pull. Jan 20, 2014

I think it goes a little easier for tall folks. at 5'8, it seemed like a pretty solid 7. Sep 7, 2014
Both this climb and Nicole Overhang were originally rated v8, and then later downstroked. I also found this climb to be easier than Nicole Overhang. Sep 8, 2014

It seems like people are doing two different variations on beta for the crux of this problem. One involves a right heel-hook that allows a static right hand reach around to the jug, and another that involves a balls out throw left for the jug which results in cutting feet.

The throw feels like a solid V7, but the heel hook makes this more like V6.
I would agree the Nicole Overhang felt much more difficult, albeit shorter and more temperature dependent. May 13, 2016

There is a heel-toe-cam off the start, established after pulling on to the climb, that makes the lower crux sequence much easier. *(I find it easier but others may disagree.) This for sure makes it feel closer to v6, seeing how you don't cut feet, nor do you use the heinous heel. Love the climb though, super unique movement. Mar 25, 2018
