Conn's East Lieback Variation

5.7, Trad, 100 ft (30 m),  Avg: 2.9 from 34 votes
FA: unknown
W Virginia > Seneca Rocks > S Peak - E Face > Upper Broadway

Description

Begin 6 feet right of the Conn's East traditional start, head nearly straight up through the Conn's East steep lieback variation. It crosses the usual Conn's East after the first flake and ends at the start of P2 of Soler. Continue right for P2 of Conn's or head straight up into Soler.

Significantly less rope drag than Conn's East and good when a line has formed.

Location

Start 6 feet right of the Conn's East start and head nearly straight up.

Protection

Standard Seneca rack. A BD #4 will be useful in the upper part of the flake. There is a fixed piece wedged into rock 25 feet from the top, but there are good protection opportunities here anyways. Gear anchor and nice belay ledge.

[Hide Comment] Great line and I'm glad Kristan added this entry. Really good way to get to Soler if you don't want to do the wide flake on P1. Good hand jams and liebacking on this pitch. A #4 is helpful about midway up. May 5, 2014
