Access Issue: Gate Buttress Area Recreational Lease: Climbs on Church Buttress above vault remain closed Details

Description

From the right of the cliff climb up to the beginning of the left leaning crack with a good chicken head at the start. Moving up and left turn the corner and get a good rest, and then start moving left toward some bolts. The crack thins and the feet fall away for a short section followed by big hands to the anchor.

Location

Obvious crack running the length of the lower Waterfront wall. After "Comfort Zone" before "On the Waterfront".

Protection

Small TCUs, nuts, finger sized and small hands cams. A few bolts.

Great route but make sure you have the small gear recommended. Now is the time to go do it! Nov 9, 2013

Slickery in 85 degree temps. Expect more slabbage and slapping than crack at the crux Jun 5, 2014

AKA Gritty Kitty traverse. An exciting start leads to a crux with what feels like no holds, to a pleasant 5.8 finish. Dec 2, 2017
