1. Texas Canyon is conglomerate that is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB during or after rain. A good rule of thumb is that if the ground near your climb is at all damp, then do not climb.

2. The south end of the First Corridor is in danger of collapsing at the base of Sophie’s Choice. A dam of rocks and soil has been built to divert water away from the eroding soil underneath these huge boulders. Please help keep this system in place until a more permanent solution is implemented.

Description

Diesel is the left line of bolts. Climb up and left on the steep knobby featured face on pockets and inclusions. Continue up the left line of bolts, staying right as you pass two large blocky cobbles.

Location

The left-most route on the upper tier of the north face of the Hatchery. Scramble onto the exposed slab past the fixed piton and a bolt. Continue up the left line of bolts.

Thoughtful and fun movement at an accessible grade. The bolting is a bit strange though. Most of the bolts were an extra move or two above very obvious and ideal clipping stances, including the anchor. It made clipping quite tenuous and at times spooky. But, if that's where the rock quality demanded the bolts be placed, then so be it. It keeps things interesting, that's for sure. Oct 16, 2023
