Starting Point

Description

Start up steps on the left side of the main cliff, veering slightly left, and follow an obvious ridge/crack system upwards. At about 1/2-2/3 height, head out right on a big flake, and top out via the gap between the left wall and the prow of "Blackbeard" on the right.

Location

When looking up from the bottom of the main cliff, look for the prominent, meandering line up the left side; the base of this climb is immediately left of the trail upon reaching the main cliff clearing.

Protection

BD sizes up to 3, mid-size Aliens in the upper half.

There are trees about 20-25 ft from the top, but at least one is not faring so well due to sling wear. Gear options at the top of this one seem fairly limited.

[Hide Comment] This is a pretty fun lead. The first time I did it I only placed tricams and hexes Jan 18, 2014
[Hide Comment] My first trad lead. Easy climbing, with a couple very fun stemming moves for the grade. Anchor options up top are near-nonexistent, though I found a ~4' cleat of rock on the topout ledge that worked slung with a cordelette and extended over the edge with slings. Not ideal placement, but it was adequate for belaying the follower, rapping the route, and climbing a couple additional routes to climber's right of Starting Point. Nov 15, 2022
