Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closure Details
Access Issue: Closure for Peregrine Falcon Nesting Details
The south face of Beacon Rock is closed for all technical rock climbing every year from Feb. 1 - July 15 due to peregrine falcon nesting. The south side climber's access trail also is closed for all access during this time.
Sky Fishermen is one if the best, most aesthetic lines in the Portland area. It has some of everything: dihedral, arête, face, and crack. The position, above Beacon Towers, is amazing! Begin up an open dihedral to get to the first bolt. A technical series of left hand underlings and hip scums takes you to better holds and the second bolt (place #4 stoppers between). Then the crux, a desperate foot match and traverse to the arête out left. Keep it together through some wild slaps and a crazy cross to a good left hand edge. Then work back left via face moves and up through a little roof. Finally, commence up the most spectacular dihedral Oregon or Washington has to offer!
