Blunderbus

5.9+ R, Trad, TR, 90 ft,  Avg: 1.2 from 5 votes
FA: Mike Sawicky and Gene Smith, 1981
New York > Gunks > Trapps > g. V3 - Middle Earth
Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures 2019 Details

Description

This climb has some great thin/balancy moves on a pebbly face. Would be better once cleaned a bit. There is a crux 10' up and then a few more hard moves above.

Climb straight up the face staying just left of most of the lichen and right of the Absurdland holds.

Location

10' right of Absurdland. Rap station on top.

Protection

Doesn't look like much lead gear on this one so best to TR after doing Absurdland

[Hide Comment] According to the guidebook, this was named after the incident with the bus and the hairpin turn on 44/55 in 1981, when the bus was left hanging in space. I wonder if there are pictures in the interwebs somewhere ... Sep 22, 2013
[Hide Comment] I think if you search one of the Gunks reunion threads on Supetopo there is a picture of the bus incident. Oct 30, 2013
