Description

This route is basically a direct start to the Soft Iron aid route. Start as for the second pitch of Highway 61. Climb up the corner using all kinds of techniques to a shake (around 13b to be here). Get as much back as possible and launch into a long series of hard moves. Join the Soft Iron Route, gain the hanging crack, and enjoy 5.12a climbing to rejoin the very top of Highway 61.

Absolutely awesome climbing.

Protection

5 bolts and 5 pieces of gear (3 finger size, 1 small nut, and a .5 camalot)

Intricate climbing on a aestetic piece of rock! Complex sequences, technical and powerful. Progressively harder sections of unique climbing separated by weird rests to a tricky 12- finish above the overhang (I fell off at the top once... TABAR!..) .It's a gem! Very nice one Jay! Oct 7, 2013
Jay - Right on! The greatest amount of congratulations and admiration; your achievement on this one really stands out for me. I hope that I can someday have the skills, the guns, the balls, and the tenacity to climb it myself. Nice work. Jul 24, 2013
Nice work Chief! That's one proud line. Jul 12, 2013

I'm going to drag him out to Green's. He has put me off for two years while he worked on this thing ;) It looks like it was worthy though. Jul 1, 2013

Congratulations, Jay! That is some impressive focus and will power. The route looks amazing, a lot more steepness and features than I was picturing. Knowing you, I am sure it is not "easy" for the grade too. Jul 1, 2013
