PAP SMEAR 5.11b ** (80') M (7b)
Climbs the lower third of the main arete, beginning on the right side (10' left of "Fall From Grace"), and crossing over after 20' to climb the crack and face just right of "The Testes Test" (and share the top 15' with that "test" piece). Sustained and committing climbing with a wide variety of interesting moves. Take a medium stopper for the upper crack below the last bolt.

Climbs the lower third of the main arete, beginning on the right side.

Mixed, 7 bolts plus 1 medium stopper needed.

Last time I was there to climb a couple of years ago the starting slab was somewhat overgrown with lichen, and in need of a scrubbing, making the first bolt seem a long way up.... May 11, 2017

There is no second pitch up the arete - yet. It is probably climbable…but I recall it being featureless compared to the lower part. You're welcome to do it! Nov 27, 2016

Has the second pitch of the arete been climbed? Is it open for development? I will be in the area sporadically and would love to contribute. Nov 26, 2016
