Access Issue: Oct. 12, 2020 - Temporary Area Closure Order issued for Forest Service Road 225 (mile 22.6 to 22.9)
Details
Albuquerque, NM, October 6, 2020 – A Temporary Area Closure Order (03-0700) has been issued for National Forest Service Road 225 mile 22.6 to 22.9 in effect on October 12, 2020 and shall remain in effect until October 23, 2020 or until: the Order is rescinded, whichever occurs first.
The purpose of this Order is to protect the public due to road reconstruction where no detour can be safely made to avoid and traverse around the road construction zone. Concrete is being placed to alleviate erosive conditions within the closure area. This requires time for the concrete to harden before reopening the road to vehicle travel.
The Restricted Area is within Township 9S., Range 6W., Sections 36 specifically mile marker 22.6 to 22.9 of NFSR 225. A map identifying the Restricted Area is attached and made part of this Order as Exhibit A.
As of October 6th, the reconstruction to Service Road 225 on mile 9.9 to 10.1 has been completed under the Temporary Area Closure Order (03-0698). This section of 225 is now open to vehicle travel.
Any violation of this prohibition is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for organizations, or by imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both (see 16 U.S.C. § 551, 18 U.S.C. § 3571(b)(6), 18 U.S.C. § 3581 (b)(7)).
