Gate Buttress Area Recreational Lease: Climbs on Church Buttress above vault remain closed Details

The line that follows the highest point of the boulder. Pretty straight forward problem with drilled-out pockets here and there on both sides of the arete. Crux a bit higher than halfway up, then eases up to juggy top out. One bolt on top in good condition.

  • The landing zone is sorta bad so an R rating is probably accurate. Definitely not an X rating (like the upper part of the Monolith boulder).

Southwest end of park n ride. Book gives no definite start. I start low on a nice flake on the left side of the arete.

One bolt on top. Recommend a couple of BD Mondo crash pads to protect the landing. 20+ feet.

I believe that this boulder is the Parking Lot boulder not the Roadside Boulder. Mar 9, 2015

I'm surprised this thing only gets a V2 rating. Felt a lot harder that that to me. Maybe it was just the fact that falling off this thing would result in some serious pain. A very good problem but harder, at least for me, than V2. You can climb the drilled out crack to the right of this and top rope the corner like I did when I got scared half way up the corner and bailed. Nov 8, 2013
