Description

This is the classic overhanging bolt ladder on LeConte Boulder. All of the bolts are bomber. Two bolt anchor with chains up top. This is the perfect route to get your overhanging aid skills dialed in on. It is pretty popular, so if it's occupied you can go right around the corner and get on The Hooker, which is nowhere near as steep but offers several bathook placements and an old bolt or two.

Location

This route is on the overhanging back-right side of LeConte Boulder, visible from the LeConte Memorial parking lot.

Protection

Free biners or draws for bolts.

[Hide Comment] OK OK, A6?

I'll change it to A6, or maybe WI42- 6B+, class 2.

I just copy other ratings. Like you said, it's a bolt ladder, so does the rating matter? C'mon guys. Jun 18, 2015
[Hide Comment] From John Middendorf on Bigwalls.net:

A0: Also known as "french-free", using gear to make progress, but generally no aiders required.
A1: Easy aid: placements straightforward and solid. No risk of any piece pulling out. Aiders generally required.

Looks like aiders required here. May 10, 2017

[Hide Comment] I think it was 8 bolts to a nice chain anchor with rap rings. Bring an autoblock for the rappel because cleaning this thing is the crux. Oct 18, 2022

[Hide Comment] Fun practice line. At 5 foot 11 I walked my way up in about ten minutes. My 5 foot 6 wife took closer to 15-20, some of the reaches are long for shorties but definitely possible. Don't waste time cleaning on rappel, have your partner jug/re-lead the line, it will be much faster. They need the practice anyway. Oct 30, 2023
