Warning Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures ***** RAIN AND WET ROCK ***** The sandstone in Zion is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN ZION during or after rain. A good rule of thumb is that if the ground near your climb is at all damp (and not powdery dry sand), then do not climb. There are many alternatives (limestone, granite, basalt, and plastic) nearby. Bring some replacement webbing (or chains & links, if your are feeling generous) when you go. The anchor webbing needs a little TLC and I was fresh out at the end of the day. I was a fool and didn't cut this off. It is fraying on the right anchor.

[Hide Comment] For better or for worse you gotta take a shuttle or bike to turn onto Zion canyon scenic drive (the road this climbing wall is on). Can't take your car. Gotta get shuttle tickets at the visitor center. We walked the mile and a half.. annoyed at having to pay for a shuttle. found out a mile into the hike it costs one whole dollar! Dang it! Nov 1, 2020
