Live to Ski

5.10a/b, Sport, Alpine, 90 ft (27 m),  Avg: 2 from 3 votes
FA: Carl Pelletier & Matt Turner
Wyoming > Jackson Hole > Rock Springs Bu… > (c) E Sector

Description

The lower half of the climb consists of a number of hanging faces bisected by various horizontal crack systems. The upper half of the climb becomes increasingly steep and is overhanging by the time you reach the anchors. The upper route leads up through a very positive hand jam (although the bolt is off to the left), then a short hand traverse to the left back to the bolt line. Although the route has been cleaned extensively, there are still loose rocks and helmets are recommended.

Location

The climb ascends the right side of the prominent orange and white face located approximately 30 yards uphill (west) of the Y-Not Wall and a couple hundred yards downhill (east) of Whistle Pigs. The climb starts to the left of a roof system, approximately 15 feet east of the start to Mule Skinner.

Protection

12 bolts and 2 top anchors. A couple of long slings are nice as the route moves from left (bottom) to right (top). There are also mid-way anchors if you only want to do the lower sections of both Live to Ski and Mule Skinner. The climbing to the mid point anchors is 5.8.
