Lost Corner

5.7+, Trad, TR, 90 ft,  Avg: 2 from 8 votes
FA: unknown
Connecticut > Central Valley > E Peak > Dihedral Section
Access Issue: Open with restrictions - Private Property Details

Lost Corner and Crossover share the same first 50 foot section. Follow the large-hand crack to a small ledge with some loose rocks. A smaller crack parallels on the left. Trickier than it looks.

From the ledge you have a couple of choices...

Small left-facing corner to the left a bigger left-facing corner (Downcast). Rapp down (not easy to spot) or scramble down the descent trail from the blue trail and work your way climber's right about 75 feet.

Very large cams are very welcome in the first section. A large chockstone can be slung halfway up. Suitable trees for anchors are found a little way from the edge. A 60 meter rope is fine, but knot the ends if you rapp.

[Hide Comment] The bushes and trees growing out of the crack in the upper section definitely hinder the star count on this one. But that 5.8 variation might make the fight through the brush worth it. I'll get back to you on that one. Sep 29, 2013
[Hide Comment] Not very well protected pulling the ledge halfway up unless you have a very large cam. A #5 gets you to maybe 10ft before the ledge. Unless we missed something, it gets very tricky up there for 5.7. Mar 25, 2015
[Hide Comment] there is a precarious microwave sized rock chocked in the wide crack about 10 feet before the topout. BE CAREFUL Jul 24, 2017
[Hide Comment] Hey Travis was that you that x that large Stone on the top. Most of the brush is now gone. Cleaning downcast real soon. Have you checked out modern eyes in rite of spring area. Awesome 5.9. sustained through after the first 15 ft of 5.6 The left corner of the second pitch to the top is clean as well on lost corner. Aug 7, 2017

[Hide Comment] did the bottom half and it was pretty hard, definitely a 7+ off width, i really wished I had large cams and ended up running out the OW section Sep 10, 2017

[Hide Comment] also i would definitely not call this a hand crack... the OW section is definitely the dominant part of the first 1/2 Sep 10, 2017
[Hide Comment] thank you for the time cleaning the route and area, yes I did drop a big X on it for my partners sake. Ken Nichol's green book mentions a precarious chockstone in the upper corner so maybe its been there forever. Sep 18, 2017
