Crispy Critter

5.7, Trad, 55 ft,  Avg: 2.8 from 22 votes
FA: Gary Aiken, Charlie Fowler
W Virginia > Seneca Rocks > S Peak - W Face

Fine crack climb with plenty of face holds if you need them. There's a thin fin in a crack that's hollow, which probably should be left alone. Top out is very rocky, so beware so that you don't rain rocks down on those below. Build a gear anchor. Easy scramble off to climber's left.

Located about 12 feet right of critter crack. Start at the lower of the two trees. Just above Crusher Critter.

[Hide Comment] The guidebook (Tony Barnes 2006) gives it a 5.7+. I don't recommend this climb for a budding 5.7 trad leader who is unfamiliar with finger crack climbing. There is a way to escape the crux by moving left to another crack - more licheny and called Old Man's Escape variation. Oct 20, 2014
[Hide Comment] This is one of the better crack climbs at Seneca. Good gear whenever you want, and pleasent climbing. No burly, but as Naz says, technique important Apr 24, 2016
