Description

The fully bolted route to the right of Vertical Component. Shares the first two bolts with its neighbor, then angles right past a pin and to a steeper section with great rock. Clip a bolt and commit to the steep crux moves, then rage through some quartzite angles to the top.

Shares an anchor with Vertical Component.

Protection

All fixed, 6-7 bolts and a pin. I believe there is one bolt not pictured on the Ruckman topo.

Yep. Pat was pretty worried about that block. He put the sling on right away. The block is still hanging in there after more than 25 years. Oct 15, 2015

I'm fairly sure the keeper sling was rigged by the first ascent. I replaced the sling in July (2015). Oct 14, 2015

The route that gave the crag its name and for really great reasons. Just keep working the vectors and solutions open. It took us a minute to figure out what was going on with the keeper sling through the crux block. Thanks to whoever rigged that. Aug 1, 2015

With Gary’'s permission, the pin has been replaced with a bolt that makes the line a bit more direct. It'’s a really good climb in any event, if you put aside the small amount of choss at the start. (For those that have done the climb, the pin came out with three blows -- yikes.) Chains on top. Sep 12, 2014
