Brinton's Buttress left side. I think the 5.11b variation is listed as Evanston Township Direct here in MP?

Close-up of the left side of Brinton's left side. A weird perspective on this pic because of standing so close to the wall. (Too many trees to get a pic from farther away.)

[Hide Comment] Was setting up a TR on 5/28/18 and placed a purple c4 in a crack at the top. Looked in the crack to adjust the placement and saw eyes and a flickering tounge looking back up at me. Then the body in the bottom of the crack. Clearly a timber rattlesnake. Slithered away out the bottom of the crack somewhere. Then I was walking down the path 5 min later and almost stepped on it crossing the path! Talked to someone on Upper D about 10 min later and they backed off the top of that climb because they saw a snake in a crack up high on that one. Not sure if the 95 degree heat was bringing them out! Jun 11, 2018

[Hide Comment] 95 degrees seems to be the magic number down here in Flagstaff. The only times I see rattlesnakes in the high country is at that temperature or above. They cannot survive body temperatures above 105 degrees for very long. On hot days they have to risk exposure if their favorite spot gets too hot. In my experience they seem to be more aggressive at these times as well. Jun 11, 2018
