Description

Begins as a shallow gully/stream bed and climbs to several nice WI 1-2 ice steps separated by snow fields. When the gully runs out of ice, bushwhack straight through trees to the Webster Cliff Trail or trend right to several rock steps and more bushwhacking to the top of Shoestring. Similar to its neighbor Shoestring with slightly less ice and a less convenient finish.

Descend by heading right (south) on the Webster Cliff Trail back to Rt. 302.

About 2500 feet from the river to the ridge.

Location

The next gully north of Shoestring, very prominent from the road. Park on Rt. 302 as for Shoestring, cross the Saco, then turn left at the trail for a few hundred feet before turning right into the woods trending towards the gully. There is an obvious large talus field just to the right of the base of the gully that makes a decent landmark.

Protection

Light rack of screws if inclined.

A couple of fun ice bulges in the right conditions, but the bushwhack-to-climb ratio is pretty lopsided. Feb 14, 2016
