Access Issue: Texas Climbers Coalition Property - Now Open Details

TCC Notes - San Antonio we have good news! Medicine Wall is open for climbing. We’ve been wanting this just as bad as you and we are excited to bring outdoor climbing to the San Antonio climbers. Thanks to the Access Fund for all their hard work on this project. A couple of quick house keeping things:

✔️It is open for all to enjoy. No commercial use of the property yet.

✔️Please wear a mask if applicable and follow other CDC guidelines especially until all the routes are able to spread folks out.

✔️Trail access is at the 1604 and Shavano Creek parking lot. Eisenhower parking will be also used when it is open.

✔️Use common sense and care for the property.

✔️We will have volunteer opportunities. Keep an eye out for cleaning and trail projects in 2021!

Description

Face climbing up edges and pockets.

Location

Right of the Main Bulge on Metro Wall this climb tackles the cool looking Shield found to the right of deep groove.

From the Base of Metro wall, head right along the base. Locate the last steep, right facing corner before the wall becomes stepped and dirty. Climb the right facing corner past two bolts on the left face to a large ledge. Angle up and right and climb lower angle, white rock past one bolt to the base of the shield; There is a large Cat Claw stump here. Climb up, above the stump on pockets and edges aiming for a right facing flake, edge higher up. The crux comes as you leave the larger edges and make a few long moves to get established on the upper flake. a few more moves get you to the anchor.
