Little Steps

5.7, Trad, 80 ft (24 m),  Avg: 2.7 from 24 votes
FA: Rob Robinson, Darrow Kirkpatrick 1997
Tennessee > Tennessee Wall > T-Wall West

Description

Begin in a corner between a tree and the face (offwidth crack to your right) for ten feet. Continue up a great hands crack dihedral with quality face holds. Move through a short section with flakes (crux) and continue the last few feet to the top.

A real classic T-Wall moderate that sees little traffic.

Location

Located just past Serenity falls (traveling from the Cibola trail). The first dihedral along the trail. Look for the tree very close to the rock face.

Protection

Standard T-Wall rack. No anchors at top. Slings around a dead (albeit large) tree about twenty feet back from the top of the cliff.

[Hide Comment] Pretty good route, but not as high quality as the classic 5.7's at the other end of the cliff. Worth doing if in the area, but not a destination climb. Also, getting to the anchor involves clawing your way up 30 ft of loose, scrubby terrain. Dec 2, 2012
[Hide Comment] This is truly a great route, especially for the grade. Getting to the solid tree anchor does require some walking across some dirt/grass/loose rock, but don't let that deter you. Also, it's best to belay your second from above since the anchor is so far back. Jun 1, 2017

[Hide Comment] soft for the grade, fun route marred by the thorny and briary bushwhack. Nov 11, 2018

[Hide Comment] Probably the friendliest route I've done in the South for a brand new leader. Steep enough to avoid ledges, juggy and jammy enough to keep it very casual. Fun! Dec 29, 2023
