Left Overhanging Arete

V5, Boulder,  Avg: 2.5 from 10 votes
FA: unknown
Colorado > Colorado Springs > Ute Valley Park > S Side Area > Main Wall
Warning Access Issue: Reopened after flood damage! DetailsDrop down

Description

Start on the same hold as the Overhanging Arete, but move left under the arete onto sandy crimps. From the higher crimps, make a blind dyno to a large, sloping pocket. Go straight up from there. The feet/beginning on this is pretty contrived, and you may feel a little stupid (keep'em high on the vertical part of the sandstone skirt). However, the dyno is fun and the moves to establish and topout are difficult.

Protection

A pad and spotter.

[Hide Comment] The right crimp you make the big throw from is gone. Throwing from the pinch on the right arĂȘte route looks too far. Probably can still go from a start on the left, but need to be very light on those edges. Nov 4, 2023
