House of Pain

5.11, Sport, 70 ft (21 m),  Avg: 3.1 from 27 votes
FA: Mike Massey & Lara Schallig (1997)
Washington > Central Region > Frenchman Coule… > Echo Basin > Powerhouse Area > (b) Powerhouse Wall

Description

Sidle your way onto the bulging ledge and start pulling hard through a great pumpy sequence that lasts until the 5th bolt on the ledge. The hardest individual move is getting to the 4th bolt but the pump can still spit you off going for the great jug pinch to clip the 5th. Mantle onto the ledge, then finish with easy but still engaging gas-pocket 10- up a little dihedral to the anchors.

Definitely stick clip the first bolt, or even the first two.

Location

Just right of the main roof of Powerhouse

Protection

6 bolts, biners on anchor

[Hide Comment] Detah from Abow or Horsepowered don't feel much harder. Clipping third bolt is hard and fall during the clipping will not be nice Mar 2, 2020

[Hide Comment] Could be the difference in style but most other 11s I tried in Vantage feel like they would make a great warm-up for this one... Bolts 2-3 are very hard to do without having a good sequence and there isn't really a rest until you turn the bulge. I blew my last RP attempt past the 5th bolt :( Nov 2, 2020
[Hide Comment] Fall from the 3rd will not break anything it's just an unpleasant foot slap onto the ledge. The 2md through 4th bolts are all about high right feet and there is a right kneebar if you're getting really pumped out. Mar 6, 2022
