Mitzvah

Wisconsin > Devil's Lake > East Bluff 07 -… > 7.2.1 - Birthday Rocks

Description

Independent line between "Birthday Crack" and "Birthday Chimney"... do not touch either. Crux is right off the bat and is steep and a bit tricky to gain small ledge. Climbs cool edges, side pulls, and intermediate cracks. This is a legit seperate line, is not listed in any guide, and I have always thought it should be.

Location

Birthday Rocks between the great and famous "Birthday Crack" and the not so great and famous "Birthday Chimney". A much better alternative to the uneventful "B-Chimney" I think.

Protection

Takes great gear from small stopps and cams to mid sized stopps and cams. Make sure you protect the start well.

[Hide Comment] When you say "crux is right off the bat" does that mean there's a bat on the route that I should look out for? Jul 18, 2011

[Hide Comment] It's am old timey idiom meaning "happens immediately". For sure a nod to boys (and girls) playing with balls and sticks pastime. Jul 19, 2011

[Hide Comment] I think Burt has renamed this route "Bat mitzvah"! Andy, you only have yourself to blame! May 29, 2012

[Hide Comment] A little contrived, but just consider it an exercise in good posture to keep your back off the chimney.

Actually, a pretty fun route. May 29, 2012

[Hide Comment] Actually Doug... I gave it the more generic moniker "Mitzvah". I was not repeating myself correctly yesterday when were at the crag base below this climb. May 29, 2012
