Seasonal Raptor Closures. Details

Description

Fun jammin! Sandy Epeldi's book describes this as "the best jam crack in the area." The crack starts about 15 off the deck and there isn't much for pro before that.

Watch for nested owls after the roof at the end of the crack.

Location

The obvious straight-in jam crack about 2/3 the way from the left end of the wall.

Protection

standard rack to rap hangers. You may be able to protect the final moves to reach the crack with a micro-nut.

Large group of pigeons reside behind the big block at the top, there is still tons of shit, feathers, and creatures left. Even besides that I didn't find the climbing to be all that great. Skip it and go hit Flying Circus Sep 22, 2015

This is a great crack climb, easily one of the best at the grade at the cliffs. It just needs cleaned out periodically. I brushed the crack out the best I could by hand(gross, I know) on 7/31/15, so it's not too bad right now, although it could still use a good brushing out to be truly clean for a while. Don't pass this one up though, even if it means doing a quick clean on rappel.

Also worth noting; I've seen owls nested on top of this route, make very sure they're not up there before climbing it. Aug 1, 2015

Takes larger pro (.75 - 3) C4s. Starts out at .75 and gradually widens to #3 by the time you reach the top. It's a very nice looking crack but completely full of bird shit, feathers, dead creatures etc that is constantly falling in your face and raining down on your belayer. If not for this, I would give it 3 stars at least. Oct 11, 2014
