Warning Access Issue: In critical habitat area for the Desert Tortoise DetailsDrop down

Description

This route starts up a steep slab with tons of foot placements. If you don't know what to do, look down and move your feet. After a few bolts it gets slabby and very easy, then leads into a slight bulge that is pretty fun.

The rock quality is great. The limestone at Kelly's Rock is bullet-hard, and somewhat sharp. Just go easy on the hands, and work the feet.

Location

There are 3 routes between "Wet My Whistle" and "The Awakening". This is the middle one.

Protection

6 bolts to chains. Felt well-protected.

[Hide Comment] Long gone now so can't quite remember the specifics. Is this the same route listed as k2 5.8 in the Limestone Bible? Photo did me no favors in remembering but didn't really match the description. Nov 19, 2016

[Hide Comment] broken mussy hook on anchor replaced with locker but badly twists rope on the lower.
some hangers are spinning on these and adjacent routes. Unsure of how the RAWL style bolts work in this regard as the bolt heads do not seem to be loose, could be rock erosion at hanger site? Mar 26, 2024
