Hugh Herr Roof

V5, Boulder, 10 ft (3 m),  Avg: 2.4 from 9 votes
FA: Hugh Herr?
New York > Gunks > Trapps Bouldering > Uberfall problems

Description

Start way back under the roof, left wall is on for feet. Make your way across the roof to the heavily chalked "brick" hold at the lip. There seem to be a few ways to pull the crux, but the idea is to get to the first horizontal that you can grab from the lip. The problem is considered over once your feet are on the lip...I took this to mean your hands were on the third horizontal up from the lip.

Location

To the right of Rhododendron, in a cave that may have a pond of water in it.

Protection

A pad and spotter. The spotter should watch your back, as there is a protruding rock behind you that you *may* hit if you blow the crux.

[Hide Comment] While climbing this problem last summer, one of the local climbing guides with a nearby party came over and informed me that a hold may have broken off making this problem significantly harder. I was climbing V4 problems easy and this was near impossible for me to complete. He suggested more in the V7 range. Further evaluation should be made to determine the actual grade. Jul 18, 2015
