Monk

5.6, Trad, 60 ft,  Avg: 2.7 from 3 votes
FA: Mike Varlotta, Jim & Lori Johnson
Maryland > Narrows aka Lov… > Funland
Access Issue: This area is closed to public use during March 1-August 1 to protect nesting Peregrine Falcons. Details

Description

Climb up for about 35 feet through easy climbing, gaining a large ledge (15 feet wide or more). Walk across this ledge to a large flake, climb up this flake and gain the Kiddie Land ledge. The crux is from the first ledge to the face of the flake. The #5 Camalot and a fist jam are a great combo to get over the flake.

Location

Walk up to kiddie land, move out right to where the wall turns around the corner; here you'll find enough space to flake two ropes and start climbing.

Protection

Nuts: 5-10
Cams: #0.4-2, #5 Camalots
Tricams: The pink one works well in a few places

I believe the LEFT track is the "real" monk ... right feels like 5.5 but still fun.

[Hide Comment] There is an off width chimney variant after you pull the first ledge.

The current start has heavy foliage ... assuming this is indeed the start I am thinking of.

Pull the first ledge, look for the off-width to right near Free But Worth it.

Slow climbing but if your bored feel free to watch.
