Poncho and the Three Perverts

Description

This route starts near a corner. Head up the black rock on the right side of the corner, on easy holds, to a crack system in the corner. Work the crack and the blocky corner to a ledge. Clip the next bolt and fire up the headwall to the anchor ledge. If there is a crux to this climb, that was it, but to me it felt fairly consistent throughout.\

Rappel to descend.

Per Chris Downy: the block and tree near the anchors was so loose that it had to be removed. We cleared the area, gave it the slightest push, and the block fell off and the tree with it. No neighboring routes nor bolts were damaged when the trundler was pushed off.

Location

This one is located about 10' to the right of Dillinger.

Protection

7 bolts and a bolt anchor.

[Hide Comment] Another great warmup to avoid the crowds! Hardly ever see anybody over here. Maybe a little hard for 5.8 but still fun! Nov 4, 2013

[Hide Comment] Moving the anchors about 3 feet right would keep the rope from running into the little sappy tree on rappel/cleaning and rope-pulling. Dec 5, 2016

[Hide Comment] We didn't have any issues with the tree climbing this route. Good moves, felt easier than Pretty Boy Floyd (.7 a few feet to the right). Aug 22, 2017

[Hide Comment] Thanks to the endless throngs of people toproping this route, the right hand welded eye at the anchor is now significantly worn through. Dec 17, 2018

[Hide Comment] Tightened the left bolt (just tightened the nut which was a little loose) and added some permanent anchors to this to make it a faster warm-up.... I did not replace the anchor but figured with new steel clips it would stop the cold shuts from wearing out. Jan 6, 2020

[Hide Comment] The block with the tree at the top was removed on April 5, 2022.

While leading, I noticed the white X and avoided it. Got anchored in and cleared area. Gave the slightest push, and the block along with the tree fell off. No neighboring routes or pro were damaged. Apr 6, 2022
