Alabama > Cherokee Rock V… > Sand Rock Bould… > Fireplace Rock

Description

This is probably the only 5.7 sport route that I know of at Sandrock. Bottom half has a buldge with pockets and positive holds which turns into a slab. Nice climb for the aspiring leader. If the bolts are chopped, just boulder this V0.

Location

Look at the fireplace rock cave and go right. Go through a corridor between Fireplace Rock and the Shoe Box near the slab. Hang a left and you'll see this route on the valley side.

Protection

3 bolts. Open Shut. May be chopped depending on who is winning the war.

[Hide Comment] I was deeply saddened to see that in my latest trip to SR this route was clipped. It was a great warm up and a great intro to beginner lead climbers. I have to idea why anyone would want to destroy this route as it can't be trad climbed. If anyone knows how to contact Johny, I'd love to convince him to rebolt this line. Oct 23, 2011
