She Made Me Do It

V8, Boulder,  Avg: 4 from 21 votes
FA: Rick Fredland
California > Central Coast > Santa Barbara > Santa Barbara… > Skofield Park > Cracked Boulder

Description

Traverse the entire Cracked Boulder from left to right—. Undergo an odyssey of hard, awkward, and beta-intensive moves—, then finish on Mutants Amok. Begin with left hand on round sloper and right hand on the large edge at the beginning of Le Fissure King.

This is perhaps the most classic traverse in Santa Barbara. Don't leave Skofield without giving it a go.

Location

Cracked boulder. You can't miss the baffling line of edges, slopers, and crimps.

Protection

Pad, especially for the finish.

[Hide Comment] Description discrepancy: The proper start for She Made Me Do It is with left hand on the arete. This is how Rick did it, as well as the next several ascents after his. May 31, 2012

[Hide Comment] I'm a little confused. Isn't the round sloper on the arete? Was he grabbing higher? Are we talking about the same thing? Jun 1, 2012
[Hide Comment] Ok, I see. The absence of the word "arete" in the description led me to believe there was some other left hold people were using to avoid the entry swinging heel-hook move. (It's been a while). Jun 1, 2012
[Hide Comment] Also, this is one of the best traverses that anyone will find anywhere. Positively classic. Jun 1, 2012

[Hide Comment] Agreed: I can't think of a more aesthetic and dramatic traverse. Definitely in my top 10 boulder problems of all time. Jun 1, 2012

[Hide Comment] At over 10 sessions of work, this is easily the most beta intensive climb I’ve ever done. Bring your wizardry - youtu.be/Fxd0pEV5W20 Aug 20, 2024
