Facing downhill, start at the bottom right of the boulder, work your way up and left to the top. Alternately, you can start low on the left and go straight up. Check out the downhill side for more one/two move nonsense.

From the parking area, walk up the hill on the right hand trail to the top/clearing. Just as you enter the clearing on your left is a short 7 footer. This is Look Mom. Its located between Consumer Gluttony and Juan Carlo Dyno boulders. Picnic Area, Pine Mtn.

Crash pad, spot. Nice and flat, plenty of space.

Yes, a fun problem for the kids. Pretty gritty when my 10-year-old daughter Daisy topped this out back in 2007. Not in the O-11 book---it probably didn't rate for those climbing V10+ at the time... Sep 13, 2010
Go Daisy!
I have a feeling the FA was sometime around the establishment of the picnic area. Sep 14, 2010

I think it's safe to assume that anything V5 and under that can be walked up to in an established area has been done before (even if it's not in the bible---I mean Bob's book). Sep 14, 2010

My son Carlo lost a tooth on one of our many trips to PM this summer. Picnic is our favorite area right now. We try all kinds of silly nonsense on this boulder and we have no doubt that we are not the first to have a good time with it. We gave it a name because the boulder wasnt in our guide. Tween boys are like that.
When Carlo and his pal Mitchell first climbed this boulder, they showed me the first little glimpse that they "got it" when it came to the bouldering thing; Without me saying anything, they dragged the pad over to the rock, looked the possible routes over and worked out the down climb/drop. Then they got out the brushes and gave it a good scrubbing and cleared the base of deadfall and pine cones. And then they had at it, working it out move by move without any help from me. I was a very proud dirtbag dad that day.
I thought the name the boys gave it was clever and cool. I will edit the FA though.

No worries. Like I said, I like the name. FAs always get my attention, and when I saw the pic, I immediately recognized the boulder.

(But, yeah, I know that proud dad feeling.) Sep 21, 2010
