Naked Man

5.12a, Sport, 60 ft (18 m),  Avg: 3.5 from 24 votes
FA: Marty Bland, 1994
Washington > Northeast Corne… > Spokane Area > Deep Creek > Main Wall

Description

This brilliant route begins with a steep polished section followed by a nice rest before moving slightly left into a "c" shaped shallow corner system. Difficult slopers and small crimps lead to a tricky to clip 5th bolt. Working out the sequence through here is key to the send. Pull through a small and juggy bulge continuing on jugs to a nice rest (routes original finish). Now move right onto some nice face climbing finishing by pulling over a small roof.

  • *Note: Naked Man was Deep Creek's 1st route*

Location

One route left of (7) Belly Rubber. The route's middle section is recognized via a "C" shaped corner system capped with a mini bulge.

Protection

[Hide Comment] Trad climbers may find some temporary reprieve from the difficult slopers and crimps. Stickclipping the first is probably a good idea. Sep 1, 2011

[Hide Comment] Probably closer to the 12b realm when comparing it to other routes on the wall Jan 2, 2022
[Hide Comment] Contrary to what other climbers might say, Naked Man is at most 12a and not as sustained as the neighboring 12b. It's definitely a tough onsite that favors the well-versed climber. Apr 22, 2023
