Never had a gate and doesn't really need one if you are clipped into the carabiner as well. That is, of course if all you are doing is lowering off. If you are top-roping you should be using your own draws! Mar 17, 2015

The mussy up top is missing it's gate. Would have repaced but didn't have a wrench for the quick link. Mar 13, 2015
Only one hook on this anchor as I recall. Is the one hook now gone as well? 9/16ths and 1/2 inch combination wrench is all you need for 90 percent of loose nuts on bolts. Very inexpensive. Mussy hooks can be found online if you wanted to pick some up, maximuspress.com/shop/prodd… the community would thank you. No, maybe not but I will in advance. Oct 14, 2013

EFR- Good call on both. The locker will probably backfire and make people toprope on the leavers even more.

"Newer climbers are nervous about lowering anyway. Explain the physics of it to them and they can teach themselves to use their rational brain to overcome an irrational fear which will help their climbing in the long run." -Best advice I've heard in a while.

I'll switch it out when I'm up there again. I still have biners to donate if you're developing this summer. May 8, 2013
Hey Chris, I appreciate that you are helping by replacing the worn carabiners. I would encourage you not to use lockers however as people lock them and they often need pliers to unscrew. It also makes it hard to clip them on an onsight lead of the route.

I would also suggest to everyone that they use their own draws and quit top-roping on them.

Newer climbers are nervous about lowering anyway. Explain the physics of it to them and they can teach themselves to use their rational brain to overcome an irrational fear which will help their climbing in the long run.

I replaced the leaver biner on top of this one with a locking biner. It is obvious that people are top-roping on the biners up there based on the wear. Also, I find newer climbers were unsettled about the mussy hook without a gate on it. Happy lowering! May 3, 2013

Best sport route of this grade in So Az. Mar 25, 2013
This climb is called X-Ray because the FA was a free solo. Think about that when you are clipping your bolts. Jul 25, 2010

This climb is a gem - overhanging 5.8 with good rock throughout and interesting moves. Great fun and a good warmup for the harder routes on the wall. Jul 18, 2010
