Look for a wall below the weakness in the upper face. Follow the crack as it goes up and to the right.

Fifth route as you come around the corner from the West Bluff trail (break from the trail left 125 yards south of the north end of West Bluff Trail).

I got sucked into the left finish on the on sight lead of this. Later on the TR it became more then evident that sticking to the crack proper is where this climb gets its rating. Great little butt kicker move at the top.... feet are an issue.. Jul 12, 2010

This crux is a thinker. Gotta move quickly through it less your feet blow and send you into the tree! Jul 13, 2010

Did this today twice on TR solo - first veering off to the left like Burt describes above the tree and then on the crack itself to the right. If you are leading this thing and can't figure out the the crux (and don't want to fall onto a tree), you can definitely bail off to the left (it felt 5.8ish). However, this isn't even close to 45 feet, maybe 30-35 feet. Starting this route way off to the right and making your way to the left toward the bottom of the crack is super fun.

In February, even at 60 degrees, the crux was making it from the parking lot to the top of the cliff over the ice and snow. Feb 28, 2016
