Description

This is a fun, moderate route with new bolts. It starts out as mostly a face climb then climbs up a short right-facing dihedral at the top. Getting "over" the corner of the dihedral is probably the crux, but it's easier than it looks. It is well worth the climb if you enjoy moderate sport climbs.

Location

Well, this is on the climber's left side -- about 60 feet left of The Army Route. It can be identified by two bolts on the left wall of the short, right-facing dihedral at the top of the route.

Protection

Sport climb -- about 5 or 6 bolts to two cold-shut anchors at the top just above the corner of the small "roof"

[Hide Comment] Bob Robertson thought this might be a 5.8. I'm going to stick with that. An enjoyable route but short, only five draws. Aug 29, 2010

[Hide Comment] Anchors are set back a bit after you turn onto the arete. To avoid rope drag and biner on rock, you will want some longer cordelette to get it out and into the air (but then on TR you can't pull the last move). Oct 15, 2015

[Hide Comment] Fun, short route! The bolts are well placed, and all were modern and solid, unlike some other routes in the area. The anchor is bomber and just out of sight from the bottom past the dihedral. Jun 12, 2019

[Hide Comment] A good route. Enjoyable exposure + a fun move pulling over the mini-roof to the anchor. Well bolted + all hardware is in great shape. There is a little bit of rope drag at the top (when lowering or if you choose to set up TR). Nov 6, 2020

[Hide Comment] The bolts and anchors are in good condition. There is some rope drag for lowering or toproping unless you extend past the roof. Jul 4, 2022

[Hide Comment] My climbing partner and I both led this route and agreed that the rock was greasy, the clipping stances awkward, and the final moves super fun. Anchor placement creates a sheath-shredding condition for lowering or rappel...sketchy. Climb it anyway.

Still, I appreciate the time and expense invested by the FA party for everyone else's enjoyment. Cheers. Jul 3, 2024
