FA: Tim Standing 2007
California > Eastern Sierra > Lone Pine Area > Alabama Hills > Alabama Hills N… > Cattle Pocket &… > Lost Eye to the Moon

Description

At the SE end of the formation. Climb an easy slab passing two bolts to an anchor. I believe this to be the easiest route in Alabama Hills. It's the only 5.1 that I have ever seen with bolts.

Protection

2 bolts. Mussey Hook anchors

[Hide Comment] Seems the anchor links on this one get stolen regularly. Loctite time? Feb 22, 2013

[Hide Comment] FYI: The left mussy hook at the anchor that this route shares with Rootin Tootin, Zig Zag, and Rythm of the Range is worn about a third to a half of the way through and needs to be replaced. Dec 3, 2021

[Hide Comment] Not even close to 5th class, same with Zig-Zag. You can effortlessly walk up or down these two with no hands. The “5.3 & 5.5” on this wall are already extremely easy for the given grades and better beginner climbs with some real climbing movement IMO. Jan 28, 2025
